"The majestic old mansion and gardens, which
sit grandly atop the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi,
have been expertly restored"
Southern Living magazine, March 2002, "The Best Corner of Vicksburg"

"The
Corners is the Best B and B in the World
Well-known travel writer Herb Phillips, Los Angeles Times
Honored
by AAA with their four diamond rating for 9 consecutive
years.
"We considered
and contacted several other B & B's before deciding
on the Corners. We drove by at least two others and fell
in love with the Corners. The setting itself just suited
us for its casual but beautiful landscaping--more
natural beauty rather than totally manicured and over
groomed."
The furnishings of the
house were way beyond our expectations and my wife is a
docent in a famous historical home that specializes in
decorative arts. Macy and Joe the owners were helpful
and did a remarkable job of making us feel like close
and valued family members. The morning history tour
after a great breakfast was one of the most informative
I've ever experienced. Macy KNOWS the history of this
house. She has done extensive research using a wide
variety of resources, including interviews with
"old timers".
"Our breakfast
was one of my personal favorites, egg benedict. It was
accompanied by a fruit dish, overall a quite healthy
breakfast and just the right amount. We'll stay at the
Corners again the next time we're in
Vicksburg

"Thank
you so much for a wonderful experience. Your
kindness and hospitality was beyond words."

"Been meaning to
email and tell you what a nice time we had at your place. It was a
delightful weekend."

"Thanks again for your
hospitality. I didn't realize what a nice place Vicksburg is..."

"I was thinking
... a
week ago I was enjoying your hospitality. Thank you very much! We
had a great time."

Macy, We just
returned from our vacation and I wanted to drop you a note to thank you for
making our trip memorable. We enjoyed the Corners and our host and
hostess very much. Much Luck for the future!

I
will be back with another group and look forward to sitting on your porch
with a pizza and a bottle of wine again (and listening to blues music). God
I loved it over there so much I could live there.

Sorry to read
about the passing of Ms Bettye Whitney. My husband and I met her a few years
ago. We stayed at "The Corners" as part of an anniversary trip to
Vicksburg. Ms Bettye was quite an elegant lady and charming host; we will
never forget her, nor our stay at “The Corners.” We love Vicksburg.. and it's history!! We have been several times and we
have also been bring our three children "to walk through history"
since they were just babies. I believe my oldest (now 13) was only 15-16
months old when we brought him the first time through the military park and
my now 12 year old was a baby!! When my daughter (now almost 10) was about
2 or 3, we carried them for a two-day trip through the park. They enjoyed
"re-enacting" the battles with the tour tape and of chorse I
took lots of photos!! We have since carried them again! but Al and I haven't
had another opportunity to come by ourselves since 2002 and hope to make it
this time! I am a free-lance journalist
and the last time we came a wrote several stories on Vicksburg and did a
special feature on "The Corners" for The Mississippi Press, a
daily newspaper out of Pascagoula (Jackson County). It filled up the entire
Features Section that Sunday!

I'm truly sorry to
hear of Mrs. Whitney's passing. My family had reserved The Corners
B&B the weekend that Katrina hit. We were coming in from all over
the country and had to cancel due to the unavailability of gas to get us
there and no power at The Corners. My husband and I along with his
parents had the pleasure of staying for a weekend to make arrangements while
Mrs. Whitney was still getting around really well. She was a lovely
lady with many funny stories that she shared with us over breakfast. We're
going to get the reunion plans up and going again. I was checking the site
to make sure you were still open. We look forward to making the
arrangements with you again soon. We˘re looking at something in the spring
of 2009 before it gets too hot.
